Port in Alexandria City
Contractor: EDECS
About Project: The Alexandria Port Authority is enhancing Egypt's maritime infrastructure with the construction of the new El Max Port, strategically positioned between the Alexandria and Dekheila ports. This initiative is part of a broader effort to augment Egypt's capabilities in global shipping and logistics, accommodating an increasing volume of maritime traffic and larger vessels. El Max Port, with dock lengths and storage areas both extending over 3.5 kilometers, represents a significant upgrade in the nation’s port facilities with an estimated investment of 30 billion Egyptian pounds. This expansion is designed to meet the latest standards in maritime operations, ensuring the port can handle the newest ship types and compete effectively in the international shipping industry. The port aims to become a central hub, enhancing logistical links between Alexandria and Dekheila ports and increasing transit trade through the Mediterranean. The development of El Max Port also includes a commitment to sustainable and green port initiatives, which involves aligning investment with environmental standards to minimize the ecological impact. This includes the construction of a new wave barrier to manage climate-induced geomarine fluctuations and reduce port closures.
